Koschei the Deathless, originally titled “Princess Miranda and Prince Hero,” is a Polish story from a collection of fairy tales by A.J. Glinski published in 1862. Koschei the Deathless is a popular villain in Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and Czech fairy tales. He is a powerful sorcerer that achieves immortality by hiding his soul outside of his body. Legend goes that the only way to kill him is to find and destroy his soul.

The artwork was originally made by Russian-born artist Faina Lorah. It was painted in oil on gessoed wood. It is reproduced on museum-quality semi-gloss paper using the giclée method, which means exquisite detail and an archival print that will last and last.
